
Youths in a Kogi State community who couldn't wait for police to help them curb criminality in their locality have taken the laws into their hands by metting out jungle justice to a group of armed robbers.
Three armed robbers operating in a community in Ofulu Local government area of Kogi State met their waterloo when angry youths descended on them.
The robbers were burnt at Orunu junction in the area by youths suspected to have hailed from the adjourned communities in the area.
An eyewitness said the robbers; numbering five met their Waterloo when they took over the road, robbing commuters and motorists.
Unknown to the robbers, the villagers who were tired of their incessant attacks on the road leading to Idah Local Government Area from Lokoja rushed out in their hundreds and descended on them.
The villagers, who refused to be intimidated by the armed robbers, attacked and snatched their guns before crushing three of them to death with heavy stones, clubs and other dangerous weapons.
The bandits were identified to be foreigners from the neigbouring African countries, witnesses said.
Two of the armed robbers escaped into the bush, while the other three were burnt.
Criminal activities, including kidnapping have been on the increase in the area in recent times.
The Police Public Relation officer, Williams Aya, confirmed that the police found three dead bodies at the Orunu junction, but no one was at the scene with the bodies.
