A final year Nigerian student has turned an overnight millionaire after emerging the winner of Palmchat's #CrazySelfie competition.
Janet Abiodun Lawal, a 400 level Theatre Arts student of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, has won the sum of N1 million from Palmchat’s #CrazySelfie competition.
The competition which ran between December 2015 and January 2016 took place on the Palmchat app and witnessed several entries from participants who were required to take selfies with funny gestures. The individual with the highest likes and shares was to be crowned the winner.
Afmobi Nigeria, owners of Palmchat and Palmplay announced Lawal as winner of the #crazyselfie competition at the award ceremony which held at the Palmchat office in Ikeja.
According to Yemisi Oluwaseun, Business Development Manager, Palmchat, "apart from creating awareness for the Palmchat app, the competition was also a way of giving value to the users the idea behind the competition, was to empower young Nigerians to create new social experience through building fun and rewarding social networks," she said.
On winning the competition, the overjoyed Lawal said, "The money received would go a long way in furthering my education and bring me closer to my dream of helping make Nigeria a better country."
