Edo police arraign six for armed robbery


The Edo State Police Command on Wednesday arraigned three persons before an Oredo Magistrate Court in Benin, Edo State, for alleged armed robbery.

The suspects, Osamudiamen Ailemhe, 22; Akin Arogundade, 25; and Kehinde Usman, 21, who were arraigned on a three count, were said to ‎have robbed some persons at house 21, Ore-Oghene Street, in the state capital, and collected four phones worth N45,000.


Presiding Magistrate, Caroline Nwoha, orderd that the three suspects be remanded at the Oko Prison, after their pleas were not taken

She also ordered that their case file should be sent to the Directorate of Public Prosecution for legal advice and adjourned ‎the case to August 30 for mentioning.

The three other suspects were brought before an Egor Magistrate Court in Benin for allegedly breaking into a building and stealing property worth N450,000.

The suspects were alleged to have committed the offence at the residence of one Idemudia Mabel, on Okoro Street, Ugbiyoko quarters, in Egor Local Government Area.

According to the charges, the suspects allegedly entered the building with a hammer and saw blade and carted away “two laptops, one IPad phone, one camera, three Nokia phones, wristwatch, school bag and a cash sum of N23,000.”

They pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The presiding Magistrate, Igho Braimoh, however, granted the accused bail of N100,000 each and a surety in like sum, following an application by their defence counsel, Sophia Okoedion.
