9-yr-old among 230 students caught drinking, smoking marijuana at bar

Kenya police have arrested 230 students, including a 9-year-old minor, who were caught smoking and drinking at a Nairobi bar.

Accordant to theStar of Kenya, the arrests were made at the Jerry City discotheque situated on Dubois Road in downtown Nairobi following a public tip-off.


Eye-witnesses say some of the arrested students had alcohol and rolls of bhang (marijuana) in their possession.

The Central Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD), Paul Wanjama on Tuesday said the 230 minors will be arraigned and the owner of the bar prosecuted.

"Although we have no evidence of the number of minors who were drinking, we will also charge the owner of the disco as the Liquor Act prohibits admission of minors into any establishment selling alcohol," Wanjama said.
