President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice-president Yemi Osinbajo on Monday met with military service chiefs to review the security situation in the country.
At the end of the meeting, the Chief of Defense Staff Gen. Gabriel Abayomi Olonisakin assured Nigerians that the December deadline by the president to end Boko Haram insurgency would be met. Olonisakin said they had to brief the President on the security situation after a 60-day review.
He also said, troops battling Boko Haram insurgents in the Northeast are facing weather and logistics challenges. When asked whether the December mandate is feasible, the CDS said: “It is a military operation and military operations have time-lines and we are working on them assiduously.
