This 8.5m long whale weighing about 3.7 tons was found dead ashore near Rizhao in Shandong Province, China on Saturday. The villagers immediately informed the bureau of ocean and fishery of the case soon as they spotted the mammoth whale. The staff said the whale must have strangled in the angling net and died. It has been preserved in a refrigeration chamber for further examination.
