The Imo state government has broken a record by erecting the tallest Christmas tree in Nigeria. The Christmas tree, decor is alleged to be worth over N 600 million.

Earlier this month, Governor Rochas Okorocha reportedly approved N600 million for this Christmas tree and New Year decorations, and then went ahead to say that workers in Imo should consider his payment of salaries as a privilege, and not a right. The cost is really shocking considering the fact that the state workers have not been paid salaries for several months.

Undoubtedly, the tree and its price have triggered emotional reactions among Nigerians who started blaming Governor Okorocha, appealing to his conscience.
