Osita Chidoka
The opposition party seems ready to present a candidate for the vacant Anambra central senatorial district seat with a former minister tipped for the position.
Osita Chidoka is set to become the flag bearer for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming Anambra Central rerun elections.
According to reliable sources, the PDP National Working Committee and the Anambra chapter of the Party has concluded plans to nominate Chief Osita Chidoka following the Court of Appeal ruling in Enugu which nullified the election of the former PDP representative Mrs. Uche Ekwunife and ordered for a fresh poll in Anambra Central Senatorial District.
Mrs. Uche Ekwunife, has since decamped to the All Progressives Congress (APC) vowing to win the primary elections there in a surprising move to most political observers.
According to our source, the party’s resolve to nominate the former Aviation Minister comes on the “heels of a quest by the PDP to present a credible alternative to Uche Ekwunife who has abandoned the party. Osita Chidoka is seen as a very capable politician to challenge for the exalted position. He has served three Nigerian Presidents from President Olusegun Obasanjo, President Umaru Yaradua and Goodluck Jonathan, in different capacities.”
The Party also believes that his qualifications which include; a Graduate Diploma in Maritime & Ports Management from the National University of Singapore, Certificate in Global Strategy and Political Economy from Oxford University and Masters Degree in Transport Policy & Logistics, School of Public Policy, George Masons University, USA will position him as one of the bright parliamentarians.
If Osita Chidoka emerges the PDP flagbearer, he is expected to be challenged by Chief Victor Umeh of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and either Mrs. Ekwunife or Sharon Ikeazor, the APC former woman leader who has since indicated her interest in the race.
