An honey bee has caused a passenger plane to delay flight for about four hours stunning passengers and officials.
A stray bee hiding in an airspeed measurement device caused a Garuda Indonesia flight to be delayed for four hours.
In a statement, Garuda spokesman Benny Butarbutar said the presence of the bee inside the pitot tube on Tuesday caused a disruption to the aircraft’s electronic engine control.
“The problem was discovered by the cockpit crew as they were undergoing the safety procedure before takeoff,”Butarbutar said on Wednesday. "Because of safety concerns, we decided to delay the flight.”
According to the report, aother official of the airline confirmed it was a bee that became trapped in the pitot tube, a vital piece of equipment which measures airspeed.
The airline did not say whether the bee survived the ordeal. After being repaired, the plane took off and landed safely in Jakarta on Tuesday afternoon.
