Experts Explains Harmfulness Of Washing Your Face in the Shower (Read Shocking Details)

Experts have discovered that washing ones face in shower can be seriously harmful to the skin and have urged people to imbibe a better practice.

Experts in skincare have found out that washing face in shower is not good. In fact, they say, it is a very, very bad thing to do to your poor skin (H/T HelloGiggles).

Why? Many reasons. First off, it’s trickier to control the temperature when you’re multi-tasking, and to make sure the water you’re using is the exact right temperature for your face.

Skin expert Dr Tanzi told The Gloss that she recommends her patients wash their faces at the sink. ‘You can gauge the temperature more effectively,’ she says, ‘and should use lukewarm to cold water, which is better for delicate faces.’

Hot water – which is what we’re usually using to shower – can damage skin and leave it dehydrated in the long run. Plus, if you’re prone to redness hot water will only make the problem worse, dilating blood vessels and capillaries to leave you blotchy.

There’s also the issue of residue from other shower products can wreak havoc on your facial skin. Washing your face in the shower can mean you end up mixing shampoo and conditioner left on your hair onto your face by accident. Neither of which are designed for face-cleaning purposes.

And one more thing: washing your face in the shower means there’s probably a lot more water going on your face than there would be if you washed your face at the sink. This, confusingly enough, can also lead to dehydration. So. Wash your body in the shower, wash your face at the sink. Continue to brush your teeth in the shower as you please.
