Shocking! Is This the 'Spirit of Pope John Paul II' Riding in Empty Seat Behind Current Pope Francis? (Must See Video)

Internet users were recently given the shock of a lifetime when they thought they saw the spirit of the late Pope John Paul riding behind the current Pope Francis.

Viewers were astonished this week when they thought they had spotted the ghost of Pope John Paul II riding behind the current Pope Francis I in the popemobile.

The late Pontiff, who died on April 2, 2005, appeared to be sat just behind Pope Francis as he travelled through Mexico during a visit to South America.

But it turns out, the ghostly figure was actually just the figure of Cardinal Suarez Inda, a Mexican prelate of the Catholic Church.

The moving images and lighting just made it look like the Pontiff's predecessor was sitting behind Pope Francis, according to Italian news site il Giornale.

Meteoweb posted the explanation: "It would not be his predecessor, but a moving image of Cardinal Suarez Inda, whose face is blurred due to the movement of the picture and lighting, which looks similar to a figure wearing the papal ropes.

"This explanation is supported by more photos and a video broadcast in Mexico, from which one would understand, without doubt that it was indeed Suarez Inda and not the Pope ghost."

Pope John Paul II served as Pope from 1978 to 2005 after a bout of influenza and a series of infections.

He passed away at the Vatican, and spoke his final words to his close aides: "Allow me to depart to the house of the Father."
