A Chinese traffic officer has received praises from people after holding high a cable, which had obstructed traffic, for over an hour.
Winds in Yichang city, central China’s Hubei Province, damaged an electricity cable which dangled from its pole and blocked a busy road. But an officer, surnamed Dong, sprang to help by climbing over a vehicle and lifting the chord to ease traffic. He held strong for an hour until a repair team arrived.
“It’s true that my arms went numb at that time, but I just kept telling myself to be strong because it’s what we [police] are supposed to do,” said Dong after he was able to rest his arms.
