The Rivers State Police Command has said it killed three suspected kidnappers and arrested one suspected armed robber in two different locations in Port Harcourt, the state capital, in the past two days.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ahmad Muhammad, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt yesterday, said the three suspected kidnappers were killed in a gun duel with policemen after they kidnapped one Richard Otu in his Toyota Hylander SUV along the East-West Road.
Muhammad further said a suspected armed robber was arrested around the Railway axis of the Old Aba Road, when policemen from the Mini-Okoro Police Division engaged a gang of armed robbers in a gun battle.
The statement reads in part,“Three of the suspected kidnappers got fatally injured during the encounter while the victim and his vehicle were safely rescued. Items recovered from the suspects include one AK 47 rifle, one magazine, five 7.62mm live ammunition, one locally made pistol and one dane gun.”
